Genomic Stability and Hormonal Configuration in human subjects exposed to Electromagnetic fields of varying frequencies“ sanctioned by the UGC is pursued in the Department of Zoology. |

| About the Project: |
| The objective of the Major research Project has been to assess the genotoxicity potential of electromagnetic fields. Human subjects exposed for more than three years or more to Mobile Phones (high frequency), Personal Computers (low frequency) and Occupational / residential high tension wires (extremely low frequency) are evaluated for DNA integrity, hormonal status and oxidative stress parameters. The finding from this epidemiological study signified possible health effects on long term exposure to electromagnetic fields implying the potential risk to the chronic user. |

- 4 International publications with good impact factors and 2 National have been the achievements in last three years.

- The data was presented in International Conferences held at USA, Greece, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

- Oral and Poster presentations have been displayed at various International and National level conference and workshops. One poster had won 2nd prize in International Conference. The supervisor is an invitee to deliver Lectures in various colleges, hospitals and international conferences. She is a peer to review articles and assess the merits of projects submitted to ICMR.
