• Department of Geology was Established in the Year 1960.
• Established under the able guidance of Dr MS Krishnan, (the then Director General of GSI) and Prof YJ Rao , Founder Head Department of Geology Osmania University.
• Department has the privilege of running two streams one with Mathematics and other Biology as Major. The department has taken the present shape with the efforts of my former faculty members.

• The Department is one of the best department in the purview of Osmania University .The existing infrastructure of the department is due to the support from the UGC and programmes under COSIP from time to time.
• The Department is well equipped with excellent museum and huge collection of rock specimens and mineral specimens and fossil specimens and crystal models ( Glass & Wooden) and also minerals with special characters used for distinction of properties in the class rooms.

The College has established MoU with CADD to run Advanced Diploma Course in GIS.

• JNTU , Hyderabad has given consent to extend technical know how to conduct this hi-end courses.
• Department is also contemplated with GSI to have resource for this course and also provide field training .
