  • B.Sc. Vocational Biotechnology with the combination of  Botany and Chemistry
  • UGC sponsored vocational Biotechnology Course commenced from 2002
 
Objectives

To impart practical oriented biotechnology

To promote self confidence and Entrepreneurship among the students
 
Laboratories:
We have two excellent, spacious and well equipped laboratories. The working laboratory is established right from the inception of the course in 2002 with the financial assistance from UGC. The necessary equipments were procured keeping in view the UGC norms and the syllabus. The Biotechnology laboratory developed as one of the best equipped and maintained lab. The members of the University academic board BOS chairman, professors visited the lab and expressed their satisfaction and happiness over the quality equipment available and the arrangement of various gadgets and instruments.
 
In addition to the regular working lab the department maintains well established Plant Tissue Culture lab with air conditioning and good laminar air hood. The students in addition to their regular practical curriculum are benefitted by the facilities available to do their in house projects.
 
Other Resources:
  • Learning resource of the department also include the Mou's with D ecc an Diagnostic Centre and Indigenese biotechnologies. The first year and the second year students attend on job trainings in medical biotechnology, medical microbiology, molecular biology and recombinant DNA technology. 
  • All the third year students will undergo training in mushroom cultivation at the Andhra Pradesh Horticulture Department and this exposure helps them to start their own small scale entrepreneurship programme. 

  • The department maintains previous University question papers to give the students a clear and good preparation for the University examinations. It has been a practice to discuss important questions as per University exam pattern topic and chapter-wise. The students are asked to prepare assignments on these patterns and the assignments are checked by the concerned faculty regularly. The students are examined frequently by conducting slip tests. 

 
On Job Training

On job training  in reputed Organizations such as Best Biotek Research Labs (P) Ltd., Genisus Education and Research Foundation, Deccan Diagnostic and Research Center, Indigenese Biotechnologies.

Students are trained in Medical microbiology, Medical biochemistry, Molecular biology, r-DNA technology.

Live projects like DNA fingerprinting, PCR amplification of the Human Interferon gene, Mushroom Cultivation, Bacterial transformation

Compiled projects on Stem cell culture, Biogas production, Protoplast isolation, Micro propagation, Transgenic  animals
