| The college is the only private affiliated college to introduce this UGC sponsored career oriented Add On course in Bioinformatics for the degree students of Science stream in 2005. |

| The concept of Bioinformatics is related to a convergence of two technological
resolutions i.e. Biotechnology and Information technology. It is an emerging scientific
discipline which encompasses an access to all aspects of Biological, Biomedical and
Biochemical information storage, Sequence Analysis, Alignment and Phylogenetics. |

| Bioinformatics Lab |
| There is a spacious air conditioned lab which is augmented with false ceiling, A/C etc.
It has a main server with 10 clients (LAN connected) and a backup inverter to support
the power failure. A wet lab is also well equipped with the latest equipment including
PCR. |

| Faculty profile-adequacy and competency of faculty |
| Sri Surendranath lecturer in Bioinformatics is working in this college for last two years.
The Lecturer has put in 8 years of experience in various Bioinformatics tools particularly
drug designing. |

| Sri P.Naveen Reddy is working for last one year and has insight of supportive technical
programmes related to Bioinformatics like C, C++, ORACLE and JAVA. |

The Department of Zoology has a seminar library which caters to all the books required
for Bioinformatics. |

| This course involves Modern Teaching methods like usage of PPTs and online teaching. The students are encouraged to participate in Power Point Presentations at Inter College
levels. |
