| DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE |
| Considering the demand for commerce education in 1960's, the Department of Commerce was introduced in the New Science College in the year 1966 with 2 sections of 60 each in English medium. The department was started under the dynamic leadership of Sri K. Ramulu (Principal during 1995-2001). The nationalization of banks in the year 1969 gave a fillup to the commerce education and opened new vistas of opportunities to the commerce graduates. Prompted by the increasing demand for commerce courses, the Government of Andhra Pradesh gave liberal permissions across the state to start single faculty commerce colleges and increased the intake capacity of the existing colleges offering B.Com course. In accordance with the policy of the A.P. State Govt. one B.Com section was converted into Telugu medium in the year 1971. The department of commerce has always been one of the largest department of commerce has always been one of the largest departments in terms of its strength and also in terms of the large cross sections of students it deals with. |

| Economics, Political Science & Public Administration are the core subjects offered under this. Considered to be the oldest departments in the college. These departments were started way back in the year 1965 and they have produced the graduates of outstanding eminence. |

| COMPUTER LAB |
| The Computer Lab of Arts & Commerce contains 20 systems with updated with P4 configuration. All commerce students have free access to the computer lab. The CBT examinations for the B.A. & B.Com students are held in this lab besides the Computer Practical Examinations in the subjects like Fundamentals of Information & Technology, Fundamentals of Computer, Business Data Processing etc. The UGC has been very liberal in strengthening the computer lab and all the systems were acquired under UGC grants. |
